BANG! Its Bonfire night on Saturday – 2011.11.04

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Hi everyone,

Well its almost the end of the working week and I for one am looking forward to having a bit of a rest after a busy few days creating some new Christmas e cards and Thanksgiving e cards.

Its Bonfire night on Saturday and this year we have been invited to go to a party being held by some friends who live near Kew Gardens, which I am really looking forward to.

Quite a few of our friends will be there with their children and hopefully some delicious food on the go, as well as the fireworks, so I am very much looking forward to it!

Get the kids involved organising Thanksgiving! – 2011.11.03

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Hi all,

Being a mum myself, I know how difficult it can be to organise a big event that pleases everybody. There is so much to do on big days like Thanksgiving and if you have children, it can be hard to manage looking after the food preparation as well as keeping them entertained!

I always think the best way to approach big events is to get the kids involved in the preparation, you get some help and they enjoy themselves and feel happy that they have contributed. The most obvious thing that they can help with is the food but this is not always a good idea; small children and hot pans do not mix and so depending on your set up, you may want to avoid this.

Hi all,

I am getting ready for the weekend away but thought I would share this with you before I go.

There will be a new Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition opening at the National Gallery on the 9th of November. It will run until the 5th of February so there is plenty of time for fans of him and his work to visit. You can find out more about this exhibition here. If you can’t get to the National Gallery, don’t worry as there is a new documentary about him that you might get a chance to watch on the 2nd of November for click here for details.

Half term trips – 2011.10.27

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

Hi all,

As its half term, we are planning a trip up to Yorkshire to visit my brother this weekend. He lives in a beautiful part of the country called Hebdon Bridge which is set in the middle of the moors, where we will go on some lovely walks and clear our heads. The town itself is very pretty, with old architecture, cobbled streets and a lovely canal. There are a few nice shops (if you like to go shopping) as well as pubs and restaurants to go to so is a really nice place to go for a little break.

Pumpkin carving and a seasonal halloween recipe – 2011.10.25

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Hi all,

I am getting more excited by the day about Halloween especially as our new Halloween ecard is so close to being ready!

Our kids are too old now to go trick or treating or have halloween parties like we used to, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t get into the spirit. I still like to carve some pumpkins to put on our doorstep and in the garden or house as they make beautiful seasonal lamps which can last up to 10 days if you soak the finished carving in bleach for 8 hours and then spray with a mild bleach solution each day.

Celebrating Halloween – 2011.10.24

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Hi all,

Halloween is almost upon us! We are just adding the finishing touches to the new Halloween e card which will be on the website very soon!

I love Halloween. Its such a magical time for children and there is excitement in the air. When my children were younger, we always used to have huge Halloween parties for them with their friends. We would spend all day decorating the the inside and outside of the house and Molly and Joe would be planning and then sculpting their pumpkins for the whole of the half term holiday!

Find interesting and new ideas everyday with pinterest – 2011.10.20

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Hi all,

Almost daily, I am discovering new and exciting things on the internet since I began using Pinterest. Its a website that you can use as an online pin board and where lots of other people are putting things on their online pin boards too which you can look at and even add onto your pin board. You can even download a ‘pin it’ button that you can use while you are browsing the internet. The button goes onto your web browsers toolbar and means that you can ‘pin’ anything you see on any website that you like to one of your pin boards!

Some beautiful nature photography – 2011.10.14

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Hi all,

I have been joining various sites over the past few days, one of which is Tumblr, where I have been adding some information about me and my cards but also having a look around for some interesting and new things that are being added and following them from my profile. Its a great way of finding new and interesting websites, blogs and individuals.

A recent find has been this fantastic website featuring nature photography – http://www.naturegalleries.net/.

There are some utterly stunning photographs on this website, my favourites being the animals and the birds (which i have featured below). Take a look at the website, the pictures are fascinating!

An unexpected but very pleasant encounter

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Hi all,

Yesterday I had a very unexpected but very pleasant encounter with another lady who has set up her own business.

The long and short of the story is that someone contacted me yesterday to tell me that there was a Facebook business page (The Supermums Craft Fair) using one of our e card images as a logo (the Supermum birthday e card).

Anyway the most interesting part of this story is that in contacting this person (Sarah) I got to find out what it is that she is doing and its great!

Happy thanksgiving Canada!

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Hello there everyone,

If you are in Canada today you will most probably be getting ready for a lovely traditional thanksgiving meal with friends or family and getting ready to tuck into some delicious roasted turkey and pumpkin pie. I haven’t had pumpkin pie before but have always fancied giving it a go as I love roasted pumpkin and pumpkin soup and obviously this is the best time of year to eat it as its in season here in england!
