Welcome to a 4 day week! (and the new [Grandparents day e card] is on the website!)

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

Hello all,

I hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. I always talk about the weather and so I feel I have to mention the appalling rain that we had on Friday and over the weekend – it didn’t feel like the latter end of August to me thats for sure!

Anyway, back to business. As I promised, the new Grandparents Day e card is up and ready to send! I really hope you all like it. We spent a long time on the drawings and animation to get it to look as though it was made by a young child and I think its really cute!

The UK riots – remember that not all youngsters have caused trouble

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Hi all,

Like most of you, I have been shocked and disgusted by the scenes of rioting across the country. I can’t believe things have come to this, where some young people feel they can do what they like and not suffer any consequences.

What makes me terribly sad about the actions of these youngsters is that not all youngsters were involved in these disturbances and I worry that these events will change the way other innocent young people will be perceived and treated going forward. Will people be even more scared of groups of teenagers on the street? Will the brave reaction of some people going out to defend their streets turn into anything more sinister?

Meet the Katies Cards team

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Hi all,

As promised, here are a few snaps to help you get to know me and the rest of the team better.

Our office

First of all, here are two photographs of the Katies Cards office. The building with the bluey-grey ‘Engravers House’ sign above the window is the our office where all of our ecards are created. The building is a converted butchers shop and is bright and airy. There are 3 companies in the building altogether as well as my ceramics studio which was built at the back of the office.

Last weeks sad news showed the best and worst of humankind

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Last week was filled with sad and distressing news. The news of Amy Winehouse’ death, although to many, not a huge shock, was a premature end to an extremely talented life. Her poor family seem understandably devastated but it was nice to see that they took some comfort from the support they have received from her devoted fans. Its very hard to see someone so young struggle with an addiction and lose the battle, but one positive is the news that her father, Mitch Winehouse, is planning to set up the Amy Winehouse Foundation in order to help those struggling with addiction.
