When we made this cute Valentines Day ecard I wanted to symbolise the idea that being around someone that you love, who loves you back, can help you to be a more positive person and bring out the best in you. I also wanted a way of animating the age old saying that ‘opposites attract’ which is how I came up with the idea of using a tall lady Giraffe and a chubby little wild boar.
The wild boar finds a way to show the lovely lady Giraffe his gift of a romantic bunch of flowers and with help from Cupid, wins the Giraffes’ heart.
Valentines Day is on my mind as we only have about 2 weeks to go!
I made the ‘I Love Ewe’ Valentines Day ecard a few years ago. I wanted to make a light-hearted and humurous card that could be sent to the one you love, but also to anyone on this special day to raise a smile. The e card was made up of a series of references to famous romantic films – can you spot them? Take a look, the first person to tell me how many and what film they are from (by posting a comment on this blog) gets a free 1 year subscription!
We are trying to come up with ideas for a new Valentines day e card at the moment. I have been looking through some of our old ones to get some inspiration and therefore I thought I would refresh your memory!
Here is a fun ecard we added last year that I think is very sweet an endearing. If this doesn’t win you the one you love, I don’t know what will!
I’m sure you all know that Valentines day is a matter of weeks away (3 to be precise).
This day is celebrated across the globe by millions of people who send romantic messages to their lovers or mysterious messages to those they admire from afar. Many people like to shower the ones they love with gifts of love poems, flowers, chocolates and an assortment of other gifts as well as spend a romantic evening together either in a restaurant, hotel or at home with special food, candles and champagne.
As promised, here are a few snaps to help you get to know me and the rest of the team better.
Our office
First of all, here are two photographs of the Katies Cards office. The building with the bluey-grey ‘Engravers House’ sign above the window is the our office where all of our ecards are created. The building is a converted butchers shop and is bright and airy. There are 3 companies in the building altogether as well as my ceramics studio which was built at the back of the office.
Send some love to your heartthrob with our new Valentines Ecard featuring a romantic little story about a male robot falling head over heels in love with a beautiful female robot. She does not seem interested in his initial advances but he eventually finds the key to her heart.
There is a lot written as to the origin of Valentine’s Day. Some Historians have theorised that the event is derived from various historical characters, but the consensus is that the occasion arises from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to denounce Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D which has become or current day of love and romance. Legend also records that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer’s daughter, who had become his special friend, and signed it “From Your Valentine”. Gradually, the 14th of February became the date for exchanging love messages and St. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. The day was marked by the sending of poems and simple gifts such as flowers.
Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year for you to let your heart take control of your head and do something romantic! Why not celebrate the most powerful emotion on earth, love and make your sweetheart feel extra special. Valentine’s Day provides a magnificent opportunity to express your affection for that special someone in your life.
February is a traditionally a cold month, but Valentines day is on the horizon once more, promising to warm things up for you and the special person in your life. It’s not always easy to come up with an original or unique way to say ‘I love you’, but at Katies Cards we think we’ve created some ideas that will help you convey just how important that special person is to you.
