The Final Countdown

Tuesday, December 31st, 2013

It’s almost time! 2013 is almost history and the bright lights of 2014 beckon just on the horizon.

Countdown

Clock Strikes Midnight animated ecard

I don’t know about you, but when the New Year comes I can’t help feeling a little bit down anticipating the long winter months ahead. That and, with all the excess of this season, it’s just a matter of time before the most dreaded of all traditions rolls around:

Yes I’m talking about New Year’s Resolutions.

And while I thoroughly applaud the sentiment of self-improvement, I thought I’d share this funny quote about this subject to see if, like me, you empathise all too well:

‘The trouble with New Year’s Resolutions is that they’re in one year and out the other.’

Whatever you’re doing to mark the New Year, all of us at Katie’s Cards hope that you have a great time and eat lots of fabulous food and drink. Think about the resolutions later – or not, whatever.

This wonderful animated ecard is one of our Thanksgiving cards that can also be used for Christmas! Its seasonal feel and beautiful design is sure to brighten anyone’s day! We also have a game ecards which bring lots of fun and entertainment!

With less than two weeks to go until Thanksgiving, we thought we’d give you some tips on how to get through the day relatively stress free!

  1. Delegate tasks to all members of the family; give everyone one job to do, it not only gets everyone involved and doing things together, it makes life a lot easier for you!
  2. Preparation: There’s a lot to be said for starting to prepare as early as possible! Imperishable  ingredients bought a couple of weeks in advance will take the stress off when everything else needs buying.
  3. Turkey: The most important part of the meal. Make sure you’ve arranged to get your turkey before hand whether its frozen or fresh!
  4. Decoration and guest list: Ensure you’ve invited everyone and find out what they’ll be bringing with them. Also start preparing your decorations which will add a little magic to your thanksgiving.
  5. Don’t forget to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving!

We also have a couple of fun trivia facts!

  • The average person consumes 4500 calories on thanksgiving and 229 grams of fat
  • Pumpkin pie is the most popular pie for thanksgiving
  • 400 million pounds of cranberry is consumed each year!
  • The average Thanksgiving turkey weighs 16 pounds

All of our ecards are environmentally friendly and we’re always thinking of ways in which we can be as green as possible, so Earth Day seemed to be the perfect opportunity to a create a new ecard to add to the collection.

Let your Mum know that she’s your heroine by sending her this ‘Supermum’ ecard on Mother’s Day. Watch ‘Supermum’ save the world as she rescues a cat from a falling building, kicks an asteroid away from earth and stops a volcano from erupting…all in a day’s work!

Mums are there to swoop to the rescue at so many points throughout our lives and Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to say thank you.

What is the origin of the Easter egg?

Sunday, March 3rd, 2013

With Easter fast-approaching (it’s on the 31st March this year!), we were debating the meaning behind the Easter egg. It turns out that eggs are associated with Easter because they symbolise new life and rejuvenation. Traditionally, the church banned eating eggs during Holy Week – the week that leads up to Easter. Modern Easter eggs are often made of chocolate and this practice is thought to have originated in Germany and France during the 19th Century. It seems that chocolate Easter eggs make it into the shops earlier and earlier every year!

Where did Spring go?

Monday, February 25th, 2013

Last week it felt like spring was finally on its way here in London. The days are getting longer, the temperature crept up a degree or two and the sunshine refused to be ousted from the sky by rain or snow. However, the cold weather now seems to be clinging on for a few more days and the sky looks ominously snowy. We thought this image beautifully captured the crisp coldness that has characterised the British winter this year.

Frozen

Why not brighten up this dreary Monday for someone by sending them an ecard just to let them know that you’re thinking of them? It’s sure to warm them up and make them smile even if it’s bitterly cold outside. We have a selection of ecards that you can send someone ‘just because’ that you can find here.

Thank You Ecards

Wednesday, February 20th, 2013

Whether you want to thank someone for flowers they bought you on Valentine’s Day, you recently had a birthday or you’ve remembered that you haven’t yet thanked someone for a Christmas gift they sent you, we have a selection of ‘Thank You’ ecards on the Katie’s Cards website.

Thank-you-card-image

From note-card style ecards like the one in the image above to cartoon-like animated ecards like this one, we hope that the collection satisfies a range of tastes. You can view all of our ‘Thank You’ ecards here on the Katie’s Cards website.

Mother’s Day

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 10th March and we have a beautiful selection of ecards that you can send to your mother as a token of appreciation. One of my favourites is the ‘Terrace’ Ecard which depicts a tranquil seascape reminiscent of one of the Greek Islands.

“I Love Ewe”

Monday, February 18th, 2013

If you were lucky enough to receive some flowers or a thoughtful gesture on Valentine’s Day then why not send your loved-one an ecard to show how much you care and that you appreciated their efforts?

 I Love Ewe ecard

Our ‘I Love Ewe’ ecard provides a humorous and romantic way in which to say ‘thank you’ – try to spot the films that the ecard references. As with all of our ecards, you can personalise this ecard to include your own message and, once you’ve clicked ‘send’, it will arrive in the inbox of the recipient immediately. Click here to view more from our ‘I love you’ ecard collection.

Lovely customer feedback

Friday, February 15th, 2013

One of our users recently gave us this lovely feedback and we wanted to share it with you:

“Thank you for your very interesting newsletter. I’m an Aquarian so it was particularly interesting to me. I love your cards, especially the Chinese New Year card with the beautiful Coy Carp. I’ve sent that one to several of my friends even though we are not Chinese – I had to share it with them … I love your cards and always send them to my friends on the appropriate occasions because I love the art work.”

It’s always wonderful to hear such positive feedback and it’s equally helpful to get feedback from our users. So, if there’s a particular occasion that we don’t have any ecards for or if you’d like to see more ecards in a particular style, then please do get in touch with us. You can send your comments and suggestions to info@katiescards.com.

Additionally, keep your eyes peeled for our monthly newsletter and if you too are a fan of the Coy Carp ecard, you’ll be pleased to know that it will soon be available for you to send as a birthday card!
