Happy Birthday Month

Wednesday, March 5th, 2014

We don’t know if there’s something pumped into the water system each summer but there certainly seems to be quite a few birthdays around this time of year.

And how do we know? Why, Facebook of course!

Yes, there’s been plenty of ‘Happy Birthday(s)’ ‘Hope you’ve had a great day(s)’ and ‘Many Happy Returns’ in our News Feed just lately.

And it seems strange that not so long ago, it was really only your closest friends and family who knew when your special day was.

Now though, everyone can see when your birthday is and even (shock horror!) how old you are. And there’s something quite nice about that. People that you might have lost touch with send a ‘Happy Birthday’ message and you know that your friendship has lasted the years, the many miles and the various address changes between you.

Having said that, sometimes it’s nicer to send something that isn’t so run of the mill. The stock ‘Happy Birthday’ might be ok for acquaintances and work mates that you hardly ever talk to – but for close friends or relatives, you might want to send something a bit more meaningful.

And that’s why as part of your membership with Katie’s Cards you can link up your account with Facebook and post an ecard on their wall to help you stand out amongst a sea of well-wishers. Or, if you’re not one for big public displays of affection, you can send friends and family their Birthday ecard in a private message.

Handy, eh?

And on top of all that, you can sync your account with your Facebook calendar so you can access those all important dates that make the difference between a belated birthday greeting and just a plain, good-old fashioned ‘Happy Birthday!’

Our brand new Facebook Application! 2011.12.15

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

Hi all,

We’re delighted to announce the launch of our new Facebook application which allows you to connect to your Facebook account and send ecards to your Facebook friends AND see birthday reminders from Facebook!

The application is available to members and non-members. Non-members can send cards from the ‘Free e cards’ category of the website and members can send cards from any category.

To use the application as a member to send e cards all you have to do is select an ecard from any category to send, and when you get to the ‘send’ page you will see a Facebook button with ‘Click here to post on Facebook’. When you click this button you will be asked to log into your Facebook account, once you have done this you will see a list of your Facebook friends and you can choose who you want to send the card to. You can post the card on the recipients profile page or send them a message to their Facebook inbox.

To use this application as a non-member you can select any e card from the ‘Free ecards’ section and follow the same instructions as above.

To see your birthday reminders, all you have to do is click on the ‘View your Facebook Reminders’ button on the Katie’s Cards homepage. You will be asked to log into your Facebook account and then you will see a list of your Facebook friends who have birthdays coming up which you can then send a birthday e card to using Facebook or in the traditional way, by sending them an email.

This application has been developed by us to enhance your user experience. We hope that you enjoy using it!

Please comment if you need any help with using the application!

Grandparents – what do they mean to you?

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Hi all,

Its coming up to Grandparents day (11th September for American’s and the 2nd of October for the UK). We’re getting an e card ready for you to send right now which should be available to pre-schedule in the next few days (I will let you know when it is up and running), but for the mean time I thought it would be nice to share our thoughts and feelings on Grandparents and what they mean to us.

To me, a Grandparent is the fun someone who gives extra treats and cuddles just because they can. Someone who helps mum and dad if and when they can and always has a shoulder to cry on, whether it be because of a broken heart or a scraped knee.

I would love to know your thoughts on what Grandparents mean to you – whether you are a Grandparent yourself or simply want to share a special message, please comment and let me know what you think! To make a comment please visit my facebook page here and have your say!
