Why do we hunt eggs at Easter time?

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

One of the reasons that eggs are associated with Easter is because they conjure images of revival, renewal and rebirth. Historically, eggs were forbidden by Christians in the days leading up to Easter and so they became a treat when they were finally allowed on Easter day. So why do we hold Easter egg hunts? There are many explanations from all different cultures behind this but one of the reasons that spans across cultures is the belief that finding eggs brings good luck. Apparently, decorating Easter eggs is also an age-old tradition that people have been doing for thousands of years. The first chocolate Easter eggs were made in 19th Century France and  Germany.

So, now that you know a brief history of the Easter egg, you’d better get decorating/hiding/eating yours! We also have some EGG-cellent Easter ecards on the Katie’s Cards website.

What are your New Year’s resolutions for 2013?

Tuesday, January 1st, 2013

It’s that time of year again when we review what we’ve achieved and think about our resolutions and goals in 2013.

New-Year-Lights-2013

I don’t know about you but at this time of year I always think about my family and friends. The good times we shared, the memories I will always treasure and all of the celebrations we attended.

It’s important to share our love, best wishes and our thoughts with those we care about and, in the rush of work or home life, it’s all too easy to forget. So, in 2013, I will be making this one of my New Year’s resolutions – to keep in contact and to make sure that people know that I care about them.

Of course I will be using ecards, amongst our things, to keep in touch, to celebrate birthdays, holidays and to say thank you. If you’re interested, take a look at the full range of Katie’s Cards e-cards to see the variety of ecards available for different occasions throughout the year.

What are your resolutions for 2013?

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Hi all,

We are in the process of taking some photographs of the Katies Cards team, the office and Plum so that you can get a better picture of what its like in the office where we create our ecards. I really want you to feel like you know us as you put a lot of trust in us to create heartfelt e-cards for your loved ones that are the perfect for the occasion and the person.

I am planning to finish the photo’s this week so look out for them. In the mean time, I thought you would enjoy some snaps I took recently whilst we were away in Cornwall with the kids. These beautiful scenes are a real inspiration to me, I hope you enjoy them.
