Host your own Barbecue Bonanza

Sunday, August 11th, 2013

Nothing says ‘summer’ quite like sitting around a barbeque, cooking delicious food and enjoying dining al fresco with friends. We’ve put together some of our top barbecue tips so you can enjoy these summer nights as much as possible:

1. Try to vary the usual barbecue food – instead of just burgers and sausages, throw some prawns, salmon and vegetables onto the grill. And, to accompany your feast, whip up some different types of salad – quinoa and roasted vegetables or a light Asian-inspired coleslaw go perfectly with barbecued meats.

2. Don’t be afraid to ask your guests to bring contributions. Barbecuing can often feel like you’re spinning multiple plates at once so don’t be afraid to ask your guests to bring a salad, a selection of breads or some fresh summery desserts to ease the stress.

3. The key to hosting a stress-free gathering, even a casual barbecue, is to know how many people are coming. Send one of our invitation ecards so people can send you a quick reply to let you know whether or not they’re able to make it.

4. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of sitting around a gently smoking barbecue well into the evening and talking with friends as the sun goes down. Try to have a couple of blankets to hand in case people get chilly – you don’t want to have to cut the party short!

Most importantly, enjoy it!

What does summertime mean to you?

Friday, June 7th, 2013

Now that the sun seems to be shining a little more often, we’ve been discussing what summertime means to us. From childhood memories of strawberry picking and evening football matches in the park, to cream teas by the coast, long bike rides, Wimbledon and picnics on a windy beach … the sights, sounds and smells of summer are now all around us.
